The Prosecutor General's Office has interrogated the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), Metropolitan Onufry (Berezovsky).

The Prosecutor General's Office has interrogated the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), Metropolitan Onufry (Berezovsky).


Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko was reported as saying this on TV channel “24”, according to ‘Ukrainian Pravda’.


He said the Prosecutor General's Office is investigating the criminal case of unlawful deprivation of liberty of former Assistant to the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) Metropolitan Oleksandr (Drabynko).


He was detained on the instructions of former President Viktor Yanukovych by subordinates of former Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko.


As part of the proceedings the Opposition Bloc MP Vadym Novynsky was interrogated and confronted with Drabynko.


“The current head of the UOC (MP) was also interrogated,” said the prosecutor general.

He also admits that Novynsky’s status can be requalified in these proceedings from a witness to a suspect.
