"Svoboda" Activists Detained Near St. Sophia Cathedral for Attempt to Hold Protest Against Patriarch Kirill

Eight activists of the All-Ukrainian Association Svoboda at were detained for participating in a protest against the visit of Patriarch Kirill.

According to Segodnya, a few dozen activists of the All-Ukrainian Association Svoboda at 9 a.m. attempted to come to the St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. They were going to hold a protest against the visit of Patriarch Kirill but were stopped by the police. As the police prevented them from getting closer to the cathedral, they began the protest at the crossroads of Volodymyrska and Mala Zhytomyrska streets but the police detained eight participants.

The detained were taken to the Shevchenkivsky district police department. According to the press service of the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyiv, they can be fined for violating the court decision prohibiting the organization of mass actions.
