Religion expert Liudmyla Fylypovych: No threat of religious wars for Orthodox Churches in Ukraine
Liudmyla Fylypovych, a well-known religion expert, excludes the possibility that after receiving the Tomos religious wars for church buildings will break out in every Ukrainian village and city as some pro-Russian politicians predict.
The expert said this in an interview for the Ukrainian Radio.
“Most recently, studies have been conducted to determine which values are important for Ukrainians, and religion is in the 12th spot. In the first place are secular problems – family, health, education, career prospects, etc., and only then religion,” she said.
Liudmyla Fylypovych noted that Ukrainians could always come to terms.
“I do not think that Ukrainians are already so religious in order to fuel a civil conflict over such issues. Ukraine has always been multiconfessional, and there was always a great number of various Churches, denominations on its map, and we found common grounds. Therefore, we will find it in the future. There are no open conflicts. And nobody will impose a different point of view on us,” the expert emphasized.
“It is Moscow that wants that in addition to the internal problems of the material nature, we also had spiritual problems. There will be no war among the Orthodox people in Ukraine,” Liudmyla Fylypovych assured.
