The evening of May 8, 2017 at the National Museum of History of Ukraine in the World War II President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko together with the representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, veterans of the WWII and war in the east of Ukraine took part in the action "The first minute of peace". Poroshenko gave a solemn speech and announced the first symbolic moment of peace.

Two years ago head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Sviatoslav Shevchuk wrote address "Love above all!":"Today we feel that not all the wounds of war healed, the conflict became the phantom pain. The victory over evil, which involved the entire international community, is now exploited for the construction of neo-Soviet myth, which generates a new war, and the Ukrainian people become a new victim" – he said.
