KYIV – A member of the Yulia Tymoshenko’s Motherland Faction, deputy Volodymyr Yavorivskyi, stresses that the first steps of Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych are aimed at “dismantling the Ukrainian state.”
The press service of the Motherland Faction reported to UNIAN that according to Yavorivskyi, Yanukovych started his presidency with a blessing from the Kremlin and an oath not to the Lord but to Patriarch Kirill, “a Kremlin politician wishing to form the so-called ‘Russian world.’”
“For Ukraine, it is a very ominous sign. This step splits Ukraine and the confessions. Zhyrinovskyi earlier stated that in five years Ukraine will become Russia’s province,” said Yavorivskyi.
“We are left with only one option – to unite the democratic forces to steadily and clearly oppose the encroachment on the Ukrainian statehood, soul, and history,” said the deputy.
The deputy also noted that “Yanukovych’s first presidential step was to ensure the removal of the European Union’s flag from European Square.” According to Yavorivskyi, it is a symbol of the end of the European course for Ukraine. “The flag was a symbol of the spiritual, informal affiliation with the European Union, with Europe,” he said.
