On March 2, 2010, in Kyiv the results of the competition "Person of the Year 2009 in the Ukrainian Christian Community” were made public.

KYIV – On March 2, 2010, in Kyiv the results of the competition "Person of the Year 2009 in the Ukrainian Christian Community” were made public. The honorary prize, instituted by the All-Ukrainian public organization Association of Christian Writers, was awarded to the superior of the Monastery of the Holy Ascension of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate in the Chernivtsi region, Archimandrite Mykhailo Lonhin.

According to our RISU correspondent, Vasyl Korshak, a press conference on this subject was held in the UNIAN information agency by K. Shapovalov, the head of the Association of Christian Writers of Ukraine, his deputy, press secretary, and the winner of the poll.
The monastery supports 250 children, including 39 with AIDS and 100 with disabilities. In 2008, the archimandrite was awarded the title of a Hero of Ukraine.
