Roman Catholic bishops strongly condemned attempts to disperse Maidan
The Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine strongly condemns the use of force last night, December 11, 2013 against peaceful demonstrators in Kyiv,Catholic Media Center reports.
" It seems that the authorities do not hear many calls for peaceful solution to the current conflict and their actions lead to increased tension in society and may incur an unintended consequence," - said bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine.
"Caring for the good of our country and the Ukrainian people, we askall parties to start negotiations immediately to reach consensus and compromise. According to the teaching of the Catholic Church people have right with courage, overcoming fear to speak out against the trials and persecutions and defend a just cause (CCC 1808). Limitations of human rights, including the right for free expression of their beliefs is unacceptable and shameful. We did not lose hope that the peace process will start and for this we pray to God with all our faithful", said representatives of the Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine .
