Russians circulate fake petition alleging Israel's crimes in Palestine

19.10.2023, 09:16

Kremlin-backed Telegram channels are circulating a fake screenshot of a petition allegedly from the official website of the President of Ukraine, calling to "recognize Israel's war crimes against the Palestinian people." The petition was purportedly authored by Ahmed Tamim, the head of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine and the Supreme Mufti of Ukraine. This is false.

As fact-checkers from the Center for Disinformation Resistance point out, no such petition can be found either on the President of Ukraine's website or the official pages of the Religious Directorate of Muslims of Ukraine. This was reported by Detector Media.

In this way, Russian propagandists are attempting to discredit Ukraine, create a religious conflict within our state, and worsen relations with Israel.
