The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a search at the place of the cleric of the Diocese of Cherkasy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) on the morning of March 5. He is suspected of justifying the actions of Russian occupiers.
The information was confirmed by a source in law enforcement agencies to hromadske.
According to our interlocutor, this concerns Archpriest Boris Brodovsky. He is suspected of justifying Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. Brodovsky himself has not commented on the situation yet. On his Facebook page, he has repeatedly shared videos of pro-Russian bloggers.
According to the SBU press service, during the search at the cleric's place of residence, prohibited symbols and a mobile phone from which he spread anti-Ukrainian agitation were found. SBU-initiated examinations confirmed the facts of the perpetrator's criminal actions.
Based on the evidence collected, the archpriest of the UOC-MP was informed of suspicion under Part 2 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
Currently, the issue of applying preventive measures to him is being resolved. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces up to 8 years in prison with property confiscation.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU employees in the Cherkasy region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
