SBU exposed a fire correction agent through UOC MP choir singer
This was reported by the SBU press service.
It was established that, at his direction, occupiers shelled residential buildings in the town of Stepnogirsk the day before 2024.
At that time, a 43-year-old man died as a result of enemy strikes, and many private homes were damaged or completely destroyed.
According to the investigation, the fire correction agent turned out to be a security guard at a local kindergarten. In December of last year, the man was remotely recruited by a representative of the main directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (known as the "GRU").
He came to the attention of the occupiers through his acquaintance – a choir singer from the local UOC MP church who fled to the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhia, where she works for the special services of the aggressor country.
As instructed by the Russian "GRU," the agent gathered intelligence on the locations and movements of the Defense Forces in the Zaporizhia direction.
The enemy was particularly interested in the places with the largest concentration of personnel and military equipment of the Ukrainian forces.
Additionally, he corrected missile strikes by Russia on the civilian and critical infrastructure of the region, causing harm to the civilian population.
SBU officers detained the Russian agent in his own residence. During the search, they seized a mobile phone used by the suspect to communicate with the Russian "gru" through a popular messenger.
The detainee has been informed of the suspicion under Article 28, Part 2, and Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed by a prior conspiracy of a group of persons).
He is in custody, facing the possibility of life imprisonment.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU officers in the Zaporizhia region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
