The SBU collected evidence against another Russian propagandist justifying Russia's war against Ukraine.
According to the SBU press service, a notice of suspicion was served to former actor Boris Korchevnikov, who gained popularity after casting in the “Cadets” TV series and now heads the pro-Kremlin TV channel “First Public Orthodox TV Channel ‘SPAS’.
Said platform is one of the Kremlin's mouthpieces spreading propaganda primarily to the domestic audience of the aggressor country.
In addition, the defendant is a part-time host of television projects on the central channels of the Russian Federation, in particular, Russia-1.
As the SBU has documented, in numerous broadcasts, Korchevnikov repeatedly justified Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the war crimes of the 'ruscists'.
He also publicly called for the seizure of the entire territory of Ukraine and the physical destruction of our citizens.
In addition to broadcasting from Moscow TV studios, the defendant travels to the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine, where he speaks in support of Putin and Russia's armed aggression.
The offender repeatedly crossed the border of Ukraine outside checkpoints during 2022-2023.
Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators served Korchevnikov a notice of suspicion in absentia under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪ Part 2 of Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine)
▪ Part 3 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants, committed with the use of mass media);
▪ Part 2 of Art. 332-2 (illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine).
As the offender is hiding in Russia, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
