On July 20, 2011, in the Shevchenko district court of Lviv, a civil case was opened against Czech citizen Antonin Dognal for his resistance during detention and for inflicting injuries on a woman.
The court found Dognal guilty of violating administrative offense Art. 173 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism), and sentenced him the minimum punishment provided by this article – 51 UAH.
The court hearing lasted several hours, during which statements were heard from both sides.
Supporters of Dognal promised the opponents that they would “burn in hell.”
After yesterday’s events on Pluhova Street, the victim’s condition worsened. RISU learned that she appealed to the court for a formal decision. Depending on the conclusion of the forensic examination, she will submit a new claim. Her neighbors on Pluhova Street are prepared to support her decision. “We cannot allow Dognal’s actions to go unpunished, we will demand he be deported from Ukraine,” they told RISU.
Denys Kharchuk, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main office in Lviv region, confirms that it is possible that Dognal can be deported, but the matter would have to be considered at a later time.
