Archimandrite Kalinik (Chernyshov), appointed on January 29 by the Synod of the UOC (MP) as bishop of Bakhchysaray, vicar of Simferopol diocese, will be ordained at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Head of the Synodal Information Department of the UOC (MP) Klymnent (Vecherya) said it in a commentary to NBN.
“In the near future Archimandrite Kalinik, who serves in the Crimean diocese, will be consecrated as bishop. At present, as in the previous years, he serves in Simferopol. His ordination will take place here (in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra - Ed.), he said.
Bishop Klyment said that soon the newly appointed Crimean hierarch would come to mainland Ukraine.
Kalinik (Konstyantyn) Chernyshev was born in 1977 in Yalta. He has the legal and economic higher education, a master's degree in theology.
According to Myrotvorets (Peacemaker) website, Archimandrite Kalinik (Chernyshov) actively participated in the annexation of Crimea, held anti-Ukrainian campaign, maintained an arms depot for the “self-defense of Crimea” in the Church of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist in the village of Zatyshne, where he serves as rector. He received the medal “For the defense of Crimea” from the Russian authorities of Crimea.
On May 3, at Theater Square in Yevpatoriya, leaders of the “people’s militia” awarded the diploma to the UOC (MP) clergyman. On the same day 144 “defenders of the Motherland” - the so-called local detachment of militia soldiers and civilians who “actively assisted the resistance to forces of neo-Nazism” received awards as well.
