As part of its Religion on Fire project, the Workshop for Academic Study of Religion has prepared a 34-page report on the destruction of church buildings in Ukraine caused by the war unleashed by Russia between February 24, 2022, and August 24, 2024.

According to the WASR, a total of 512 churches were damaged, of which 234 were lightly damaged (up to 15%), 141 churches received up to 45% damage, 91 were severely damaged (up to 75%), and 46 were completely destroyed (over 75% of damage).

Most of them are churches of the UOC-MP - 310, Protestant - 171, OCU - 53, Greek and Roman Catholic - 16, Jewish - 15, and Muslim - 7.

While most of the churches were damaged in the frontline area, Russian aggression has caused the destruction of churches in more than 2/3 of Ukraine's regions.

The report is available here.
