The Diocese of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna of the UOC-MP threatens to gather Ukrainian protesters “following the example of the people of Montenegro” if the President supports the petition to transfer the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

This is stated in a survey that was launched on the diocese's Facebook page.

“The protection of shrines will take place in compliance with the quarantine rules,” the report says.

From March 17 to May 11, all mass events involving more than 10 people are prohibited in Ukraine. Only measures necessary to ensure the work of state and local government bodies are allowed.

As RISU has reported, a petition calling on the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to terminate the use of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra by the UOC-MP gained the necessary 25 thousand votes.

A petition calling for breaking the lease agreement with the UOC-MP and transferring the Lavra to the use of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was posted on the President's website on April 15.

The author of the petition believes that the UOC (MP) is not an Autocephalous Orthodox Church on the territory of Ukraine, and its high church hierarchs have repeatedly been seen in statements and actions directed against the interests of the Ukrainian people.
