Synod of Kyivan Patriarchate Prepares for Celebration of Baptism of Rus Anniversary

The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate of January 22 planned a number of events to celebrate the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine.

The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate of January 22 planned a number of events to celebrate the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine.

According to the website of UOC-KP, the members of the Synod established a special committee to prepare for the celebration. The committee is composed of five bishops, three protopriests and one lay person.

In addition, the Synod decreed to hold a academic theological and historical conference dedicated to the 1025th anniversary of the baptism of Kyivan Rus and services in St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral and a procession from it to the Prince Volodymyr Monument.

The Synod of UOC-KP also decided to convene a local council on July 27.
