Synod of the Russian Orthodox Сhurch appoints an abbess to a convent in Rivne region

Nun Parthenia (Novak) was appointed Abbess of the Korets Convent. The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church made the respective decision at a meeting on November 8, 2021, which was held online.

According to Journal No. 94, after hearing a message from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow about the state of affairs in the monastery, the Synod decided: "to appoint nun Parthenia (Novak) to the post of Abbess of the Holy Trinity Korets Stavropegial Convent."

On November 4, 2021, at the age of 69, Abbess Rafayila (Khilchuk), Abbess of the Korets Convent, passed away to the Lord after a serious illness. By Decree of Patriarch Kirill prior to the decision of the Holy Synod, a nun of the monastery, nun Parthenia (Novak), was appointed acting Abbess.

The Holy Trinity Korets Stavropegial Convent is located in the city of Korets, Rivne region of Ukraine. In ecclesiastical terms, it is under the jurisdiction of the Patriarch of Moscow. The status of the Stavropegial Convent was granted by Patriarch Pimen in 1984 in connection with the conflict between the abbess of the monastery, Abbess Natalia (Ilchuk), and the Exarch of Ukraine, Metropolitan Filaret (Denisenko).
