The Solomiansky District Court of Kyiv has placed the head of the Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol Eparchy of the UOC-MP, Metropolitan Luka (Kovalenko), under nighttime house arrest for two months.
This was reported by the Graty media.
The Moscow Patriarchate hierarch must stay home from 22:00 to 6:00.
On May 1, the Security Service of Ukraine served a notice of suspicion to Metropolitan Luka for inciting religious hostility. In court, the prosecutor stated that, according to the expertise, the clergyman incited hostility in 2022 in a post on his Telegram channel "Doctor.zp." The prosecutor did not specify the content of the post.
The prosecutor requested that the UOC-MP hierarch be placed under 24-hour house arrest.
Metropolitan Luka himself did not admit guilt and requested to remain at liberty. He claimed to take a pro-Ukrainian position, and his isolation from the parish would create unnecessary tension in the frontline region.
