To raise funds for military needs, a special piggy bank has been installed in the candle box.

The abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Ivan (Prokopenko), often takes part in the transfer of funds. A few months ago, he was awarded the medal “For Civil Courage”.

The Melitopol Monastery of St. Sava the Blessed was founded by the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC on December 24, 1994.

Hieromonk Ivan (Prokopenko) was elected abbot of the monastery in December 2012.

In 2023, he was notified of suspicion under two parts (5 and 6) of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code - collaboration.

In September 2022, Ivan (Prokopenko), together with Metropolitan Panteleimon (Povorozniuk) of Luhansk and Alchevsk of the UOC-MP, took part in a coven in Moscow, announcing the “accession” of the occupied parts of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk regions by Russia.
