An indictment has been sent to the court against the head of the Russian-controlled spiritual administration of Muslims of Crimea and Sevastopol, Emirali Ablaev, the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea reports.

This is reported by Radio Liberty.

According to the prosecutor's office, he is charged under articles on justification, recognition of legitimate and denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants and collaboration activities.

"Speaking in a number of propaganda media outlets, the so-called Mufti of Crimean Muslims justified the occupation, broadcast "ideas of the Russian world" and spoke positively about the armed aggression of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine. In addition, the accused urged to show respect for the Russian language and culture for the sake of balancing interethnic relations. On the other hand, he condemned representatives of the Crimean Tatar people who oppose the occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula, as well as were forced to leave Crimea after 2014 and move to the mainland of Ukraine," the ministry said.

Emirali Ablaev has no public comments on these allegations.

The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea reported suspicion of collaboration activities to Emirali Ablaev on February 17.
