On March 24, in his daily military address, Patriarch Sviatoslav stressed that the city of Mariupol is covered with the lifeless bodies of hundreds, thousands of people with no one to bury them. Today, the Head of the UGCC spoke about this heroic city with the appeal: "Let's save it! Let's protect life!"

He noted that exactly a month has passed since this terrible war against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people began. It is the war we already call the Patriotic war, which has already taken so many lives, and brought so much destruction!
The head of the UGCC spoke about visiting our wounded defenders and communicating with them.
"The first impression that still touches me greatly," said the Head of the UGCC, "is that I have never seen a sad face among them. When I greeted them, when I held that courageous hand in my own, while the rest of the body was wounded, this soldier, this person, this woman, was smiling and told me about the victory, the victory of Ukraine. Everyone was asking for prayer so that they could return as soon as possible to defend our Motherlandagain together with their brothers and sisters."
Their faces, their eyes, and their requests shine with hope for all of us - hope that the truth will prevail, that even wounded warriors defend their homeland with their prayers, thoughts, and words of encouragement for all those who doubt or might be confused.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav asked people to pray for those who were wounded in this war.
The head of the UGCC once again addressed all the politicians of the world states, the leaders of religious communities, churches, and denominations regarding the greatest pain of today's Ukraine - the city of Mariupol.
"Today, this city needs humanitarian borders. It needs help of the international community to break through the encirclement and bring humanitarian aid to those slowly dying of hunger," the head of the Church added.
