'The innocent blood that has been shed will inevitably come upon the Russian perpetrators': Statement by UCCRO regarding Russian Federation’s attacks

16 April, 14:07

The Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (UCCRO) has released a statement regarding the recent Russian terrorist attacks on Ukraine.

This is stated on the UCCRO's website.

The full text of the document is provided below:

On the night of April 16, 2026, the Russian Federation once again carried out terrorist strikes on Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and other Ukrainian cities, using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones. As a result of these attacks, at least 14 people were killed, including a 12-year-old child; more than 80 were injured, and numerous residential buildings, educational institutions, and other civilian facilities were damaged.

On the eve of Easter and in the days that follow—among the most sacred and solemn times for millions of Christians—the Russian terrorist state continues to shell Ukrainian cities, as well as the country’s residential areas and energy infrastructure, with missiles and drones. It deliberately targets and destroys homes and kills civilians, including children.

We believe that God’s just judgment and retribution for the innocent blood that has been shed will inevitably come upon the Russian perpetrators and those who support them. Likewise, there can be no statute of limitations on the international condemnation of the crimes against humanity committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

We pray for those who have suffered from Russian terror—may God strengthen and comfort them. We express our gratitude to Ukrainian defenders, medical workers, and rescuers for their selfless service.

We thank all those who stand on the side of good and who, in this dark time of renewed Russian terrorist attacks, show solidarity with the Ukrainian people and support Ukraine.

O Great and Almighty God, protect our Ukraine!

Kyiv, April 16, 2026
