On December 13, a relay race for the handover of the Peace Light of Bethlehem between all regional Plast elders and Plast groups was held in Kyiv in an online format. In these difficult times, the event brought together Plast members and friends of the organization from all over the world.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Primate of the UGCC, and His Beatitude Epiphanius, Primate of the OCU addressed the Plast members.
The relay race was broadcast from the Church of little Sophia in Kyiv, where the chaplains of Plast Fr Rostislav Vysochan (UGCC) and Fr. Dmytro Karan (OCU) held a Christmas prayer service. Then the fire was symbolically transmitted to all the Plast cells.
The Bethlehem fire symbolizes peace, harmony and love for one's neighbor. "Today we see with our own eyes the joyful light that is the herald of Christmas joy from Bethlehem, the Holy Land, from the place where our Savior Jesus Christ was born. Overcoming all obstacles, all closed borders during quarantine restrictions, the Bethlehem flame arrived in Ukraine," His Beatitude Sviatoslav said in his video message, according to the Information Department of the UGCC.
