Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, made a call to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, head of the UGCC, on February 14 to express the Holy See's support for the Catholic Church in Ukraine and solidarity with the Ukrainian people at this difficult time of escalation of the conflict around Ukraine.

According to the UGCC Information Department, His Beatitude Sviatoslav informed Cardinal Parolin about the Ministry of the UGCC in the face of the current threat of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and thanked him for the constant attention of the Holy See to the situation.

The head of the UGCC expressed special gratitude for Pope's call to prayer for Ukraine.

"The Ukrainian people feel the special concern of the Holy Father for peace in Ukraine and highly appreciate the diplomatic efforts of the Holy See to overcome the current international crisis," His Beatitude Sviatoslav said.

"In this tumultuous time, I would like to express to you, Your Beatitude, the episcopate, the clergy and faithful of the Church you lead, and to the entire Ukrainian people the words of support for the Holy See, our solidarity and assurances of prayer for all of you," Cardinal Parolin said during the conversation.
