An important message the Ukrainian World Congress is sending to all countries of the E.U. and NATO is that “we, as global Ukrainians, will not allow any sanctions to be dropped, because this sets a bad precedent for Russia,” UWC President Paul Grod said yesterday in an interview with Ukraine’s “United News” TV marathon.

“We are sending them the message that we are watching, monitoring. We will engage in such legal actions and litigations in every country where it’s necessary to prevent any weakening of the sanctions regime,” he said answering the anchor’s question about the lawsuit filed by UWC regarding Canada’s decision to exempt Nord Stream 1 turbines from sanctions.
According to Paul Grod, the turbines case is moving as both a judicial and a political process. Last week, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, a UWC member organization, argued that the decision was wrong during a hearing at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Canadian Parliament.
The UWC president also pointed out that it is very important that Ukraine would win the war as soon as possible to avoid an economic downturn in Europe and North America as a result of Russia’s energy weaponization. Therefore, UWC supports President Zelensky’s “appeals to the G7 and all of Ukraine’s partners to provide military aid and economic assistance to Ukraine,” Paul Grod emphasized.
