The Australian Conference of Catholic Bishops continues in Sydney on November 7-11. One of the most important topics discussed during the conference was the war in Ukraine.

According to the Department of information of the UGCC, November 9, the ruling Bishop of the Melbourne Diocese of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (UGCC), which covers all of Australia, New Zealand and Oceania, Bishop Mykola Bychok addressed the Australian Conference of Catholic Bishops with a special words regarding the war in Ukraine.

"Today I thank you for the unique opportunity to convey the truth about the war in Ukraine at the conference of Catholic bishops in Australia. The last time I addressed you was on May 9 of this year, the 75th day of the war. Today is already the 259th day, and this is more than eight months of horror that all Ukrainians are experiencing, and, again, the entire civilized world is watching it. It is very symbolic that I am speaking to you today, since November 9 is the day of Ukrainian writing and language," the Bishop said.

Among the working moments of the Episcopal Conference was also a prayer for peace and tranquility in Ukraine, which all the bishops present pray to throughout the week.

The conference consists of bishops from 34 dioceses and ordinariates from 28 territorial dioceses and from 6 other structures, including Eastern Catholic dioceses for Chaldean, Maronite, melchite and Ukrainian Catholics, as well as the Military Ordinariate and Anglican Ordinariate and the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross.

Bishops meet twice a year a week in May and November to act and address issues of national significance.
