The WCC Assembly did not vote to deprive the ROC of membership

At the Assembly of the World Council of Churches, which is currently being held in Karlsruhe, Germany, despite the request of three churches and several individuals, the leadership of the WCC did not deprive the ROC of membership. The audience applauded the announcement of this decision.

The priest of the OCU, Fr Andriy Dudchenko, wrote about it on his Facebook page.

 

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine is officially represented at the World Council of Churches assembly for the first time. For now, the OCU is to act as an observer, but the process of acquiring full membership has already begun.

Patriarch Bartholomew spoke at the plenary session of the Assembly yesterday. He spoke about the unfair suffering of the Ukrainian people and the need for universal burial and resurrection.
