A vicariate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate (UOC-KP) was established in Australia, Metropolitan Dymytrii (Rudiuk) of Lviv and Sokal of the UOC-KP reported to journalists at a press conference on Friday.

According to him, the reason for the establishment of the vicariate was that three of the seven Orthodox parishes in Australia declared their intention to transfer to the jurisdiction of the UOC-KP.

“Some faithful wanted to be in unity with the Kyivan Orthodox Church; therefore, these three parishes came under the umbrella of Patriarch Filaret,” explained Metropolitan Dymytrii.

The vicariate was established during Metropolitan Dymytrii's November visit to Australia.
