Tomorrow, the Synod of Constantinople will make formal announcement on the Tomos and make public the date of Unification Council
The Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which started its work yesterday and will continue until November 29, will, in addition to other issues on the agenda, make a formal decision on the Tomos and announce the date of the Unification Council to take place in Ukraine.
“The Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate is at work. After the meeting of November 29, we are waiting for positive news,” said archbishop Yevstratiy (Zorya), the spokesman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Kyiv Patriarchate.
In turn, Rostyslav Pavlenko, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Ukraine, who is currently in Istanbul as an official representative of Kyiv, stressed that “all official comments will be made upon completion of the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. So no breaking news can be expected so far.”
"During the sessions of November 27-29, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate will consider the Ukrainian issue. All official comments will be provided upon completion, so no breaking news can be expected so far. The Synod will consider the text of the Tomos of Autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, determine the date of the Council in Ukraine for the election of the primate. The elected primate will receive the Tomos. The Mother Church does not envisage any holdback or delays. The most important thing is the creation of an independent Church, an autocephaly with full scope of rights equal to the other 14 local churches. We are approaching the goal,” wrote Rostyslav Pavlenko.
