Father Marian Buczek and Father Leon Maly of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) were ordained as auxiliary bishops of the Lviv archeparchy on 20 June 2002 in the Assumption Cathedral in Lviv.
Archbishop Nikola Eterovic, apostolic nuncio in Ukraine, Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and Roman Catholic bishops from Ukraine and Poland took part in the ceremony.
Bishop Marian Buczek was born on 14 March 1953 in Cieszanow (eastern Poland) near the Ukrainian border. Having graduated from the Przemysl Higher Theological Seminary, he was ordained priest on 16 June 1979. Before his episcopal ordination, Father Buczek worked as chancellor of the Lviv Curia of the RCC and secretary of the Conference of the Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine.
Bishop Leon Maly was born on 17 August 1958. He graduated from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and was ordained a priest on 7 June 1984.
