The bishop also said that people did not come to Maidan to take down the government, but to stand up for truth, justice, and independence.

Bishop Volodymyr Cherpak of Vyshhorod and Podillya of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC) thanked the vice president of the World Jewish Congress and chairman of the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities (VAAD) of Ukraine Joseph Zissels and Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar Refat Chubarov for their support of the Ukrainian people. The hierarch said this from the stage of the Kyiv EuroMaidan during Sunday’s demonstration.

“I sincerely thank Joseph Zissels for his appeal to the national minorities living in Ukraine. I thank him for addressing them, urging them not to be on the side of the strong, but to be on the side of the Ukrainian people, with whom they have lived together for centuries,” said the bishop.

“I thank the Crimean Tatar people, especially Refat Chubarov who also addressed the Maidans in our country and asked all the Crimean Tatars to support the Ukrainian nation in its struggle for justice and truth,” said the bishop.

The bishop also said that people did not come to Maidan to take down the government, but to stand up for truth, justice, and independence.
