The bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church from the United States, along with all the bishops of the Eastern Catholic Churches of America, arrived in Rome for ad limina Apostolorum (pilgrimage to the tombs of the Supreme Apostles).

The visit of the bishops is primarily a pilgrimage to the tombs of the apostles, from where the successors of the apostles draw living water from the very origins of Christianity, as well as a manifestation of the Church's communion with the Apostolic Throne. The visit to the Eternal city includes a separate audience with the Holy Father, as well as visits to various Vatican ministries-dicasteries.

As Bishop Bogdan Danylo, the ruling Bishop of the UGCC diocese of Parma in the United States, told the UGCC Information Department, first a delegation of bishops visited the Congregation for Eastern Churches, where cardinal Leonardo Sandri gladly received the bishops and asked how the Eastern Catholic dioceses were developing in the United States.

"Cardinal Sandri was pleased to see that the Catholic Church in the United States is not in decay, but is a sign of the resurrection. even more, the Catholic faith is expanding in other American cities, particularly in the West and South, where new Eastern Catholic communities are opening up," the Bishop said.

According to him, the bishops also aim to meet with the Congregation on matters of faith. And most importantly, I will meet with His Holiness Pope Francis on Thursday.

Let us add that such pilgrimages to the Apostolic Capital, which in the Catholic Church is called visita ad Limina, are carried out by the bishops every five years to meet the Holy Father as a symbol of unity with the successor of the Holy Apostle Peter.
