UGCC Confirms UOC-MP Hierarch’s Statement about Absence of Religious Conflicts in Galicia

Finally, the tension and false beliefs are fading. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is open to cooperation, and we are pleased that this is reciprocated by the hierarchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-MP, Fr. Dr. Ihor Shaban, the head of the UGCC Commission for Christian Unity, told the Information Department of the UGCC in response to Metropolitan Anthony’s statement,

At the same time, Fr. Shaban said that there still remain many unresolved issues, especially historical ones.

"But I want to believe that the chosen path of dialogue and understanding will allow our churches to overcome all obstacles," said the head of the Commission for Christian Unity.

On May 27, during the seventh Festival of Orthodox Media in Lviv, the administrator of the UOC-MP Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanych) of Boryspil said that in Galicia there is no misunderstanding between the Orthodox and Greek Catholics and relations between the two churches in the region is stable.
