UGCC Did Not Send Invitation to Pope to Attend Anniversary of Baptism of Rus Celebration

The press service of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church reported to RISU that no particular invitation was sent by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to Pope Benedict XVI to attend the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine.

The press service of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church reported to RISU that no particular invitation was sent by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to Pope Benedict XVI to attend the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine. The only formal invitation to visit Ukraine was the one given by Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuch during his visit to the Vatican in the spring of 2011. 

Let us remind the readers that Interfax-Religion reported that the pope received an invitation to participate in the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine
