UGCC Head Asks to Release All Prisoners before Christmas

29.12.2014, 09:37

The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk calls on everyone who is forcibly holding prisoners to release them before Christmas. He appreciates the steps that have been made in the last few days.

"If the release of all prisoners happens before Christmas, I think it would be a very nice gesture and a great holiday for many families. It would be very symbolic if our military prisoners could go back home and celebrate this Christmas with joy, it's primarily a family holiday,” said the patriarch.

The head of the Church asks to remember that we are all Christians and doing this act of mercy before Christmas is extremely important, the Information Department of the UGCC reports.
