On July 13, in Prudentopolis in Brazil the UGCC Primate Patriarch Svyatoslav enthroned His Eminence Myron Mazur as a diocesan bishop of the Diocese of Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin. The event took place in the city’s Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. After the enthronement the hierarchical Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by His Eminence Volodymyr Kovbych, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of St. John the Baptizer, His Eminence Danyil Kozlynskyy, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God in Argentina, Roman-Catholic Bishops from Brazil and numerous clergymen of the newly-established diocese.
In his sermon His Beatitude Svyatoslav told that the new body of the UGCC was created with regard to the new challenges the UGCC faces in Brazil. He urged to pray for successful development of the Diocese of Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin. “Pray that the life of the UGCC with the creation of this new diocese became more dynamic and would bring good fruit in future.
On July 15 a similar solemnity will take place in one more Brazilian city of Cortiba. This day His Eminence Volodymyr Kovbych will be enthroned as Archbishop and metropolitan of the Archdiocese of ST. John the Baptizer, the UGCC Information Department reports.
As reported, His Beatitude Svyatoslav arrived in Brazil on July 10. The main purpose of his visit is introduction of His Eminence Volodymyr Kovbych and His Eminence Myron Mazur into the new church government.
