KYIV The monitoring group of the Patriarchal Pilgrimage Center of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) is improving the map for pilgrimages. The group has visited over 20 pilgrimage places. The experts have been examining shrines of churches, studying nearby accommodations and canteens, and meeting deans and senior priests and representatives of local pilgrimage initiatives in the Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions for more than a week now. The Information Department of the UGCC reported this story on February 13, 2010.

The monitoring group has already been acquainted with pilgrimage objects in Pomoriany, Chrvonohrad, Pidhirtsi, Krekhiv, Sokal, Briukhovychi, Stradch, etc.

The center, established in May 2009 by the decree of Patriarch Lubomyr, is intended to create conditions for the wide realization of pilgrims’ needs for the faithful in Ukraine and from abroad. It is expected that the activity of the center will stimulate the development of modern social and engineering infrastructure of the pilgrimage places, which will allow for the establishment of a closer exchange of pilgrimage information and increase the pilgrims’ currents inside Ukraine as well as liven the cooperation between the Ukrainian and foreign participants of the pilgrimage initiatives.
