UGCC spiritual leader is awarded Ivan Franko International Prize

On August 30, the spiritual leader of the UGCC received the award from the hands of Ivan Franko grandson, Roland Franko “for outstanding contribution to the development of social and human sciences.”

His Beatitude Lubomyr (Husar) has received Ivan Franko International Prize for the monograph "Sheptytsky, Metropolitan of Galicia, a forerunner of ecumenism.” He became the first winner of the award.

 

On August 30, the spiritual leader of the UGCC received the award from the hands of Ivan Franko grandson, Roland Franko “for outstanding contribution to the development of social and human sciences.”

 

His Beatitude Lubomyr defended his monograph in English in 1972 in Rome at the Pontifical Urban University (the Urbaniana). The work was translated and published in 2015 in Lviv.

Ivan Franko International Prize was founded in 2015 to encourage scientists worldwide to do research in the Ukrainian studies as well as social and humanitarian legacy of Ivan Franko. It was reported by the Information Department of the UGCC.
