"Ukraine is not fully aware of opportunities offered by the Vatican," - Patriarch Sviatoslav

The Vatican is akin to the United Nations, a platform where a multitude of different thoughts and positions converge and simmer. For Ukraine, the Vatican is an essential platform for church communication, a church pedestal from which we can speak about our national interests, our vision of our own history, our present, and our future. It is also a unique platform from which we can address the world, a diplomatic platform.

This was emphasized by His Beatitude Sviatoslav in an interview with the "Glavkom" news agency.

"I have the impression that Ukraine has not fully understood the opportunities the Vatican offers to defend our national interest. I cannot definitively say that Ukraine has a clear policy regarding the Vatican, particularly concerning matters of war. Questions of war, security, and weaponry go beyond the voice of an individual bishop. It is the responsibility of the Ukrainian government to address these issues. For us, Greek Catholics, it is evident that the Vatican is a powerful platform for constant struggle and the continuous defense of our national interests and our church's vision," summarized the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC).
