On June 19, Ambassador of Ukraine to Georgia Ihor Dolhov left in protest during the speech of the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy Sergei Gavrilov.

It is reported by Yevropeyska Pravda with reference to Georgia Online.

"I will comment only on the desire of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. All Ukrainians want their own Church, and what we know and what we have received is a hard resistance from Moscow," Dolhov said.

When asked how he would appreciate the fact that Russia Chairs the Assembly, the Ambassador of Ukraine noted that this decision depends on the members.

"Russia has occupied the territory of Ukraine and is still conducting a war today." Today, we have one dead and four wounded soldiers. This is what Russia means for us. "What Irakli Kobakhidze [Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia - Ed.] emphasized is very simple, Christian religion and the Church are peace, peaceful existence, not occupation of territories. That's all. I have no more comments,” Dolhov said.

On June 19-22, the session of the 26th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy is held in Georgia. In the framework of the event, about 100 delegates from 25 countries visited Georgia. In particular, Mr Gavrilov is visiting in Georgia, a Russian MP who openly supports the recognition of the so-called South Ossetia and Abkhazia by Russia.

At the same time, a group of citizens objected to his arrival. The State Ceremonial Palace hosted an action, whose participants called the arrival of Gavrilov shameful.
