Ukraine's first veterans' space for Muslims opened in Kyiv

10 September, 14:30

On September 9, the first Muslim veterans' space in Ukraine was opened in Kyiv. Military personnel, veterans, members of their families, and relatives of fallen and missing Muslim soldiers can seek support there.

This was reported by Suspilne Krym.

“There are representatives of many nations fighting for Ukraine. Muslim men united by religion and assistance to Ukraine in its struggle for independence are among them,” said Arslan Misiratov, head of the public organization Haytarma Crimea.

Unlike other veterans' spaces, only halal food will be served here, which is allowed for Muslims. There is also a room for prayer, and a military chaplain will work there.

“There are mosques in the center. We have Korans, spiritual books, etc. Not all questions can be answered by a psychologist because religious issues are a little different. This role is fulfilled by the imam-chaplain,” said Isa Mohamed, military chaplain of the Muslim veterans' space.

The space will provide psychological and legal assistance. Lawyer Taras Borovskyi spoke about the most frequent requests.

“Assistance in restoring violated rights to appropriate payments and treatment. We also receive requests from families who have difficulty receiving payments for the death of a serviceman,” he emphasized.

The Muslim veterans' space is located at 39/41 Shota Rustaveli Street. It is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 18:00.
