At the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, a seminar was held presenting social encyclicals of the Roman Popes to the faithful in the last and the beginning of this century.
The event was organized by the committee of UGCC “Justice and Peace” and the Institute of Religion and Society of UCU. The scholars and priests shared their thoughts about the encyclicals Deus Caritas Est (God is love), Solicitudo Rei Socialis (Care for social matters), Popolorum Progressio (Development of nations), Caritas in Veritate. The Vice Rector of UCU, Myroslav Marynovych noted that the Catholic Church for a hundred of years has presented documents regarding the social aspect of life containing answers to many urgent questions of the present time. However, the papal documents have not been duly appreciated by the Ukrainian society. “It appears that the encyclicals live their own life and the world its own one,” said the Vice Rector of UCU.
