Today, at 4:30 p.m., at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, the main Christmas tree of the Christian world is to be unveiled. The 30-meter-long tree was brought from the Trans-Carpathian region of Ukraine. Forty smaller fir trees will be used to decorate the Apostolic Palace.

The state men’s academic choir Dudaryk from Lviv will sing traditional Ukrainian carols during the opening ceremony.

Christmas Star carriers, who traditionally participate in the processions of star carriers in Ukraine, will attend the ceremony, reported zaxid.net.

"I am proud for Ukraine as we managed to make sure that Ukraine provided the main Christmas tree of the Christian world. The decorations for the tree were provided by the Lviv Mirror Plant.  Also, many wooden decorations were produced all over Ukraine. We gathered them and passed to the Vatican through the Ukrainian Catholic University."
