This year, a delegation of 190 Ukrainian pilgrims from various regions of Ukraine, including 39 women, is going to Mecca.
RISU was informed by the press service Alraid that the first group of pilgrims (100 persons) will depart on November 5 from the airport of Boryspil. Another group will depart from Donetsk. The third group will set off on November 10 from the Islamic public center in Kyiv.
The pilgrims include several Ukrainian couples wishing to perform the ritual together.
The pilgrimage is organized by the Council of Spiritual Boards and Centers of Muslims of Ukraine of the State Committee of Ukraine on Nationalities and Religions.
The council agreed upon the Ukrainian quotas with the Ministry on Matters of Hajj of Saudi Arabia for two years and intends to take an active part in organizing the Hajj for the Muslims of Ukraine.
Hajj is the greatest rite of worship in Islam, which is to be performed by each faithful at least once in a lifetime.
