November 22 (Tuesday)

 

11.30. Glavkom news agency (8/20 Shovkovychna str.) to host a press conference with the presentation of the charity event “Candle of Memory.”

 

15.00. Presentation of the website and logo of the National Museum “Memorial to Holodomor victims” (3 Lavrska str.). Master classes for soldiers from the military hospital by iconographer Levko Skop and straw plaiting craftswoman Raisa Pavlenko.

 

17:00. Round table “Ukrainian Holodomor. What arguments should be presented to the UN to have it recognized the Holodomor as genocide?” and presentation of the book “1933: "Why are you still alive?” (Compiled by Tatiana Boriak). November 24 (Thursday)

 

12.00 Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance presents the project titled “Indestructible,” which tells about the 15 figures that survive throughout 1932-1933 were not destroyed either physically or spiritually. They are the author of Act of Independence of Ukraine in 1991, Levko Lukyanenko, opera singer Eugenia Miroshnichenko, dissidents Ivan Svitlychny and Oleksa Tykhy, renowned artist Kateryna Bile, writers Vasyl Barka, Oles Honchar, Nonna Auska doctor, poet Dmytro Belous, philosopher Mykola Rudenko, model Yevhenia Sakevych-Dallas, museums creator Michael Sikorsky, screenwriter Borys Khandros, writer Anatoly Dimarov, painter Zalyvakha. 13.00. A three-day meeting of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience is set to begin in Kyiv. This is an international project imtended to investigate the activities and crimes of totalitarian regimes in Europe in the XX century and prevent the restoration of totalitarianism in Europe. Created on October 14, 2011, in Prague, during the summit of Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group, as at May 2015 the platform brings together 51 participants from 13 countries of the EU, Moldova, Ukraine, Iceland, the United States and Canada. The Platform’s motto is “Democracy Matters.” The Platforms participants on behalf of Ukraine are the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, the Center for Research of Liberation Movement. November 25 (Friday)

 

18.00. Presentation of the documentary film “Robbed Earth.” The film is based on previously unknown archival documents, comments by leading researchers and the memories of Holodomor witnesses, including from the area bordering on Russia, Kharkiv and Donetsk. (Ukrainian House, Kyiv, 2 Khreshchatyk Str.).

 

November 26 (Saturday)

 

14:30 - Celebration at the National Holodomor Memorial in Kyiv with the participation of witnesses of the Holodomor, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, heads of Ukrainian churches, the Parliament’s Prime Minister and Speaker, members of the Platform of European Memory and Conscience, representatives of diplomatic missions, community representatives (3 Lavrska Str.).

 

16:00 – the nation-wide moment of silence and the action “Light a Candle of Memory.” We encourage to light a candle at a nightfall and put on the windowsill so that it was visible from outside - a sign of mourning and memory of the millions of lost lives of our compatriots.

17:30-19:00 - charitable and educational action “Candle of Memory.” The event will include folk psalms from "Stodyvnytsya" group (director Iryna Baramba) and sacred music performed by the choir of Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy "Axios" (Regent Nadia Kupchynska), poetry performed by Akhtem Seyitablayev, Katia Stepankova, Natalia Vasco, Larysa Rusnak, Anatoly Matviychuk, “A Candle” performed by National Artist Oksana Bilozir who will add particular glow and harmony to the “Candle of Memory.” In the palace lesser hall Ludmila Hrynevich will deliver an open lecture about the famine. The funds will be also raised to support a geriatric center in Stanitsa Luhanska adjoining the border of the occupied territory. (National Art Palace “Ukraine”)
