The eparchy of the eastern Ukrainian city of Sumy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) called all the churches to jointly combat gay propaganda.

The eparchy of the eastern Ukrainian city of Sumy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) called all the churches to jointly combat gay propaganda.

This statement was passed at the session of the eparchial council in view of the registration of Gay Alliance organization in Sumy. The statement, in particular, says that the Orthodox believers of more than 200 parishes of the Sumy Oblast are concerned over the fact of state registration of the public organization whose main goal is the propaganda of same-sex relations.

The fact of the registration of the local branch of the national organization Gay Alliance Ukraine provoked the concern of the residents of Sumy and the Orthodox priest received requests to counteract its activity. The statement says that “some residents of Sumy are quite determined about it.”

Not only the Orthodox believers but also most of the Christian and non-Christian religious organizations represented in Sumy Oblast are convinced that the propaganda of homosexuality is unacceptable. “As we express our concern, we address all the brothers and sisters in Christ and of the same faith. Dear brethren, the danger has crept into our houses, it is encroaching on our conscience and morality. There can be no doubt that the main goal of the Gay Alliance is sacrilege against Christian morality, abuse of the Christian soul, which eliminates any purity. Let no one doubt: if Christians do not state their strong protest, our home will very soon become a den of sodomites.

The Sumy Eparchy of the UOC-MP sent a letter to all the denominations with a call to openly support through mass media their statement or oppose the organization independently.
