Ukrainians trust the Church 4 times more than the Court: study

The Church in Ukraine has a fairly high level of trust – 63%. This is stated in the published results of the study, which was conducted by the service of the Razumkov Center from 6 to 11 September 2019.

The Church in Ukraine has a fairly high level of trust – 63%. This is stated in the published results of the study, which was conducted by the service of the Razumkov Center from 6 to 11 September 2019.

The survey included 2018 respondents aged 18 and older in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Crimea and the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, in a sample representing the adult population of the country by major socio-demographic indicators. The survey sampling was constructed as a multistage random sampling with a quota selection of respondents at the last stage.

Almost 80% of Ukrainians trust the President. The population also highly appreciates the work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (74%), volunteers (69%), the State emergency service (64%), the National Guard of Ukraine (64%), the State Border Guard Service (63%), volunteer battalions (62%), the government of Ukraine (57%), the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (57%), the media of Ukraine (56%), public organizations (52%), the National police (51%).

The high level of distrust, in turn, the judicial system as a whole (72%), local courts (66%), commercial banks (65%), political parties (63%), the Prosecutor's office (61%), the Supreme Court (59%), the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (56%), the state apparatus (officials) (55%), NABU (54%), SAP (53%), NACP (52%), the National Bank of Ukraine (51%), the Anti-Corruption Court (50%), trade unions (49%).

Overall, only 15% fully or partially trust the judicial system. Local courts (17.7 per cent) and the Supreme Anticorruption Court (20.4 per cent) enjoy a slightly higher level of confidence. The Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the Supreme Court are trusted by 25% and 23.4% respectively.

The activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine were positively evaluated by 45%, those of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by 44%, of the faction of the party "Servant of the People" in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine — by 50%. The activities of other factions and parliamentary groups in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine are often evaluated negatively: activities of the party "European Solidarity" were positively assessed by only 14%, the activity of the faction "Opposition Platform for Life" — 17%, faction of the party "All-Ukrainian Union "Homeland" (Batkivshchyna) — by 23%, of the fraction of party "Voice" (Golos) — by 23%.
