May 2019 marks the 90th anniversary of the unifying congregation of the baptized by the Holy Spirit in Volyn and the organization of the Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith of the then Poland (1929).

The solemn gathering on the occasion of the anniversary took place on May 4, 2019 at the House of Prayer of the Church of Christ the Savior, at 14a Voronikhin street in the city of Lutsk.

According to the official website of the Ukrainian Church of the Christians of the Evangelical Faith, by theologians’ estimates, the congress, held 90 years ago at Staryi Chovnitsya, in Volyn is one of the key events in the history of the Ukrainian movement of Christians of the Evangelical faith. Although the spread of Pentecostal doctrine and practice has lasted for almost a decade in Volyn and Galicia, and even the first institutional steps have been taken within the framework of the Union of Evangelical Christians of Saint Pentecost, the beginning of the ministry of the Eastern European mission and the formation of the Union of the CEC has become a transition to a qualitatively new level of development.

“Celebrating of the 90th anniversary of the congress, modern Ukrainian Pentecostalists should accept the" Challenge of Stara Chovnytsia”. It attests to the readiness to work together for the Kingdom of God, despite the individual differences, to be active in the mission, revealing the potential of Pentecost, work effortlessly and devoutly, focusing not on the limitations but on the possibilities offered by the Lord,” message says.
