A fire completely destroyed a unique wooden church in the village of Kutyshche of Brody District, which was built in 1621 and reconstructed in 1789.

Firemen were not able to save any part of the church property. The fire consumed manuscript service books that were several centuries old, ancient icons, chandeliers. An ancient wooden iconostasis was of the greatest value.

The fire broke out on Sunday, October 16. At four p.m., a worker of a local agricultural company, V. Dovbush called the fire brigade of Pidkamin. Other brigades from Brody, Radyvyliv, Olesko and Lopatyn came to help, but it was too late.

The most probable cause of the fire was a cigarette butt left after the service. It could not be a problem connected with electricity as the switch on the nearest pole was turned off.

On the same day, a meeting was held on the tragedy of the village and church community of the Ukrainian  Autocephalous Orthodox Church to which the building belonged with the participation of the Dean of the Pidkamin Deanery, Taras Dudar, Ihor Slotniuk reported to RISU.
