Univ Monastery Invites Students to Participate in Annual Pilgrimage

On May 13-15, the Society of the Ukrainian Catholic Students “Obnova” jointly with the Univ Monastery of the Holy Assumption of the Studite Order and the public organization Ukrainian Youth to Christ will holde the 18th annual youth walking pilgrimage from Lviv to Univ.

On May 13-15, the Society of the Ukrainian Catholic Students “Obnova” jointly with the Univ Monastery of the Holy Assumption of the Studite Order and the public organization Ukrainian Youth to Christ with the support of the Committee of Laymen of the Lviv Archeparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and the Lviv City Council, will hold the 18th annual youth pilgrimage from Lviv to Univ. Auxiliary Bishop Venedykt (Aleksiichuk) gave his blessing for the pilgrimage.   

On the third Sunday of May (this year, May 15) the wonderworking Icon of the Univ Mother of God is to be venerated. The feast was instituted on occasion of the youth pilgrimage.

The pilgrimage will start with a liturgy in the Church of Archistratege Michael in Lviv on May 13, 2011, at 7 a.m. At 9 a.m., the pilgrims will set out. The procession will be accompanied by medical workers and police. The pilgrims will arrive in Univ in the evening of May 14.

The night vigil including prayers, confessions, blessing with the wonderworking icon and a candle procession to Chernecha Mount will last all night.  

On the next day, after a hierarchical liturgy, the people will retun to Lviv by bus.
